oki have a 2g awd with the 4th trans is it( second from mitsibishi themsels. i went to the track the other night and was luanching my car for about 6 or 7 runs and on the very last run when i got to the end to turn around i herd poping sounds!!! i had to drive all the way home without tuning and i felt a drag the whole time. I took apart my passengers side and the axle feels fine. I found my hub was shot so replaced that. STILL DOES IT. if i turn to the left and back up it POPS around.and if i turn hard and drive forward i can hear my back tires locking up also. I jacked my car up again with ony the passengerside up i was tigning my wheels down. and the wheel spun hard tho cuz theother 3 were on the ground but it poped around makin clinking sounds. am have ordered another axle but wonderend if anyone has heard of this???????? please help i am so tired of workin on my car its rediculas
matt

hmm that sounds intresting. I am not sure if it is your center diff or your rear end. if a center diff goes out then the car is rear wheel drive. If the center diff some how callaposed and is giving you a welded center diff kind of effect it will do somthing like what you are saying. Where the rear wheels and front are going at diffrent speeds and the inside rear tire will skip when making a turn. IMO i think there could be somthing wrong with the rear diff it self. You might want to pop open the cover and check it out or just drian out the fluid and see if there are alot of metal flakes.

ok i have checked all the fluids and everything is fine. and by the way auto zone's axle 6750 is wrong for 2g awd passenger side its too short. now i have to go too mitsi. dealer. Woud a center diff go bad from dumping the clutch???? thats all i was doin pretty much i didnt tow my car or anything. This just suxs i love eclipses and dsm's but i cant stand working on it anymore i have taken the trans out and back in 9 times-- 7 on my car and once in each my friends awd's for act installs.

Yea. if you dump the clutch or pop you can say bye that center diff real fast. That is why every put so much stress on sliping the clutch. Before i knew this the fist time i dumped my clutch i snaped my rear axel. That is what started all my drive train problems. I should have everything fixed some time this month. If you have been dumping it with out sliping the clutch then yea i would say there is a good chance there is some damage to the center diff.

hey well i have changed all my fluids and changed my axle and it still does it and its not a motor mount so i can only say its the trans so if this happens to you i think its the center diff cuz when i turn hard all 4 wheels feel like they want 2 turn the exact same speed which is impossible. well i'm back to the mitsi. dealer again to warrenty it
