ok i posted a thread about this before but got no answer so i am trying again. i have a 97 eclipse rs with 87k miles on it. i would really like to upgrade the clutch soon. i am going with an all motor setup so it doesnt need to be anything extreme. i just need to know what clutch upgrade would be good for my car. just tell me the manufacturer, name of the exact clutch, and place to buy it. thanks for any help:dsm:

id say either a act 2100lb or one of the lower stages of clutch masters clutches, their "stage 3" is a 2500lb pressure plate, the stage 2 would probally work well for u, a stage 1 isnt that much different from a stock clutch, the stage 2 is somewhat comparable to an act 2100, but not as stiff of a pressure plate, it depends on how many mods u are planing on doing to ur car, if ur planing on making it somewhat fast get the stage 2 or 2100lb, if its staying lose to stock get the stage 1, it will give u a little bit better launches

yea i was thinking of the act 2100 but wasnt sure because i thought that was mostly a clutch used for turbo eclipses and since im going with an all motor setup along with a possible 50 shot of nitrous in the future, i didnt know if that would be the right one to get. thanks for the help man:dsm:

nope, they dont make an act for our cars.

your best bet is a clutchmasters. i would say a stage II is fine for you.

i have a centerforce dual friction clucth, and in my opinion, they suck for our cars.... dont get it.

go with the clutchmasters.

I am basing my opinion off my experience with an ACT2100 in my 2G AWD. For only having ~30 miles of breakin time, the clutch engages surprisingly smooth (Once you get used to the slight difference in pedal pressure and the lower engagement point). I haven't launched yet, obviously, but I can tell the clutch grabs really hard. It will provide more than enough clamping force for your application. It will probably last forever in a naturally aspirated RS...

Just my opinion....
Have you tried clutchnet.com? I got a six puck with a sprung hub for a very good price ($320)
