The South,
I am gettin pretty frustrated and was wondering if any of you guys know what might be the problem. I had my car on the dyno.. did a few pulls, then i hear this chattering while in gear doing the pull. I go to look/listen to where its coming from and it seems like the Starter/Throttle body/tranny area. I have no f'in clue where it could be but its noticably loud. I just put in this tranny about a month ago, and EVERY gear is perfect, it still shifts perfect. Its not the transfer case because the transfer case was off. I do also have a welded viscous coupler in here. I think/probably its from the tranny, but I have no clue, it wouldn't surprise me if it is. Has ANYONE had an experience like this. It goes along with the rpms only when its in gear and moving. It sounds like when you stick a plastic card into a fan. everything drives fine except this noise that I dont know about.... Help me with any info that you might have. We thought it might have been the rear motor mount, but that is totally secure. This is a 1g awd btw.

r u running puck clutch disc or full face clutch disc? I'm running a puck one and chatter like a biatch when accel/decel at certain rpm. Peace out.

Nm. thanks for trying to help sorta.. um I tore the side peice out to pull the viscous to see if that'd help and talk about metal bits. The inside case is all cracked up, and probably the center diff too. For those of you with transfer case problems like me, DON'T leave a welded Viscous in there or your tranny will go when the xfer case does because that's whats left to turn when both lock up. :(

Check your tansfer case fluid and your tranny fluids!!! I had the same problem you had. Heard the noise go with the RPMs only in gear. Ignored it for 1 day and dropped my transmission. I blew the differentials all over the road. Cost me $2300, with my tranny it blew my clutch and flywheel. Check your fluids and fill properly!!! Don't blow up your tranny like I did!!!
