Quick clutch question

I just pulled the tranny on my 92' talon N/T and it has a clutch with 15 miles on it (long story) but I was wondering if the fingers on the pressure plate sit flat. I've never seen a clutch like this and everything is torqued to spec. Thanks

Got any pics? It's kind of hard to answer your question without a picture or more information (what type of clutch it is, etc.). Maybe you should tell us that long story

It's a stock clutch and to make a long story short the guy I bought the car from put a 90' tranny in a 92' and apparently the bell housing is smaller and the flywheel ground a giant ring into the tranny so now I have a new tranny. All clutches I have seen RWD V8's the fingers point sort of outward toward the throwout bearing but on my talon they are flat (horizontal to the pressure plate face)

Yeah, that sounds about right. The teeth on the pressure plate are pretty flat - at least on my Turbo, I would assume it's pretty much the same on a nonturbo, although I haven't dropped the tranny on my n/t to find out. The throwout bearing just pushes the teeth back in towards the clutch disk to disengage the assembly, is the way I basically understand how it works.

BTW- was this just a general question, or were you having problems with the new clutch?

Just curious but asked the question after installing the new tranny. haven't had a chance to try it out yet
