older cars are equipped with cable type speedometers while newer ones are equipped with digital speedometers. main difference is that cable type is purely mechanical while the digital is a combination of mechanical & electronic. how can you convert ur speedometer from mechanical to an electronic one that can send pulses or data that can be translated to computer language? am planning to install a revspeed meter but the problem is that my speedo has to be electronic in order for the revspeed meter to work. i have heard of the brand haldatech but since its fia approved gadget, it would cost an arm & a leg. would there be another way around this?

Hm. Well, it's possible, but I'd not have a clue how. The 2G runs through the ECU. You'd need some kind of counter/driver to tell the speedo where to stick the needle, so-to-speak. There's gotta be kits out there, but I'm not doing the search... maybe start at Summit?
