Hi guys,
I recently bought a pilot motorsports short shifter for my 1990 tsi. The instructions said it was for 89-94. I got my stock shifter assembly apart and tah dah the pilot didn't fit.
The first part that was to go back on (called the shifter adapter) was too wide to go back in. I think about 1/8 in. would need to be shaved. I've been thinking about grinding down one side of the shifter adapter to make it fit, but if I do I won't be able to return it. My question is for all of you 1990 guys out there. Do you have a short shifter? If so what manufacturer? Or did you guys cut down the stock shifter? If so are there any web pages on how to do this? I've recently heard of a Mofugas short shifter but if I'm not mistaken they're out of business. Thank you guys for your help.
