I was informed by one of my dsm freinds that the transmission dowel pins are actually in the bolt that holds the trans to the block, and that the bolt actually passes through the middle of the dowel pin. Now i looked with the bolt removed and i cannot see anything that is between the block and trans where the bolt passes through. I was thinking that there was just 2 holes "on the trans and block side" and the pin was inserted in the hole on the block side, and then the trans slid onto that. Can someone better explain to me how the trans dowel pins work, where they are located, does the trans bolt actually pass through the middle of the dowel pin and such. Thanks a bunch.

The dowel pins are only on the 2 bottom sides (one towards front of car, one to the back) of the block. They should be in the block and stay pressed in there, but sometimes they end up being in the trans side, and sometimes they dissapear magically in my case.

There's only 2 bolt holes on the bottom of the trans that bolt the block and trans together, this is where the dowel pins are, and these bolts do go thru the dowel pins.
