350 hp auto trans...

Most parts that I need to make my engine produce around 350 hp are in the mail as I write this, however, Im wondering if the stock auto tranny and things are going to be able to handle the engine. What do I need to do to my tranny to make it last?

I am running between 330 and 350Hp. My tranny slips quite bad between 2nd and 3rd. What I am in the process of doing is installing a Shift Kit, an End Clutch Kit and upgrading my Torque Converter. I have a post waiting for comments regarding 3 different TC.

With those mods you will be fine. But if your trans has slipped already that is bad. The shift kit will delay an untimely death. Once you slip clutchs they are usually toast. Since the trans still moves I would overhaul it. It will be cheaper now than when it self destucts.

It only slips at WOT. The tranny shifts perfectly otherwise.

It slips when shifting gear. Coldandafraid, try the following places for the parts:

Ok, let say, for now Im not going to drag race. All I want to do is make my tranny last under the stress. What exactly do I need to buy?

Initially go with the shift kit and end clutch kit, but if you want less drive train loss - more power to the wheels and better torque, go with the Torque converter. If you only want to strengthen your tranny, go with the first two.

End Clutch Kit approx $75
Torque Converter approx $1100

The cost of the TC is quite significant.
