Hey just had a question...

I have a 420a Engine with an Automatic Transmission, what parts would I need to convert it to a 5 speed? Thanks for the input.

Hey, thanks for the information, I was just browsing around and foud this topic. I just finished changing my car to 5-speed and the changeover couldn't be smoother. Thanks!!!
 
A couple of corrections that were left out on the tranny-swap guide and that are very-very important. I found out the hard way.

1. The rear motor mount is NOT the same on the manual transmission. WHile the brackets are identical, the inside rubber boot is round on the manual transmission and the hole is positioned lower in the boot. In the auto tramsmission the rubber bushing is more like a square and if you, or the mechanic that installs your transmission doesn't change it, you will bang the starter's solenoid and break it off as the engine moves. Not to mention you will also destroy the transmission and everything that bolts to it.

2. The passenger side motor mount brackets are NOT the same. Both brackets are different and if you want to hold your transmission you will need to get this bracket from the donor car also.

3. When you install the clutch, the clutch pedal travel should be 7" to the floor and clutch play should be about 1/2". This is the car's specs. The connector's cables for the cruise control on the car might not be long enough to hook up to the connector and you might need to elongate the cables.

4. The starter for the automatic might not be deep enough to turn the flywheel. There's a difference between the automatic and the manual starter. Make sure you check for this.

5. You don't have to bend the clutch lines yourself. If you get all the necessary parts from another eclipse, you might as well get the clutch line. It's just connected by two 10mm pipe fittings and it's already pre-bent. Besides, your car already has the necessary connectors for the pipe, all you have to do is route it alongside of the brake line and you will see where it should fit.

that's about it for now. My car is finally shifting very well. Personally I can say the pedals were the most shitty job, specially fitting them in.

The swap is definitelly worth it, the car accelerates like a beast compared to the automatic tranny.
