2g AWD with 1g Internals...should I buy?

Okay, I need help ASAP. I have a guy near me that has a 2g AWD tranny that has been freshly rebuilt with 1g internals. He only wants $500 for it and I am just worried about it being a "hybrid" tranny. The parts that are inside came from a JDM tranny so we do know that they are relatively low milage parts. Please tell me what you all think ASAP since I am supposed to go look at it and possibly buy it this weekend. Thanks for all the help!

Why did he switch them, the 2G trannies are very good transmissions to start with, I really don't think it would be a good idea. That is just me.
