I Cant Get The Bell Housings Apart. Need Help Asap!!

Ok so i have 2 trannies, One with good internals, and one with a cracked bell housing. i need to take the good bell housing and put it on the one tranny so i have a good trans. the trannies internals are good it just needs a damn bell housing. i cant get the bell housings apart on the bad trans so i can put it on this trans.

HOW DO YOU GET THESE DAMN THINGS APART. any help will be greatly appreciated.

try just tapping it in circles around with a hammer...then if that doesnt work, stick a wedge (anythign with a flat egde) and tap it in in circles a little bit at a time.

ok i got them aparts but i had to take the gears off the back of the trans, and mainly everything else that was bolted onto theoutside of the trans. i took the back cover off of the trans (the little one) then i took the gears out from there and pulled the trans apart. theres 3 rods inside that were going through the back half of the bell housing and theres 2 shafts connected to the side i need. at this point this sux. i have no idea how to rebuild a trans and now i have to. does anyone know where to get info on this, or at least how everything is laid out inside. thanx

if you switch everything over you will need to re-shim the shafts. Check out vfaq.com for rebuild info
