Recently picked the car up. Grinds going into 1st if the car is still rolling, I still need to adjust the pedal assembly and probably bleed the system, hopefully that cures it. My main concern, all gears seem normal except 4th. When shifting from 3rd you get to neutral then have to move the shifter to the right slightly to get it into 4th. What could cause this? Cable adjustment, shifter bushings? Bent fork or something?

I would check under the hood for proper cable movement. Make sure your linkage bracket is not moving on your transmission due to bad bushings. You could try adjusting the cables but most likely, the damage has been done from driving with clutch drag/bad pedal assembly bushing/poorly bled hydraulic system. You will need to pull the Trans and get it repaired. I am sure the synchro teeth and sliders are worn so bad it is causing your issues.

Brows through here to see what you can try adjusting.

Once a synchro starts to grind, it's over and needs to be replaced.

I would check to be sure nothing is hitting the shift shafts at the top of the trans under the hood. If nothing is touching, then I would suspect someone had replaced the trans with one that has the wrong shift shaft arms on the top of the trans. Sometimes you can adjust them so they will work from the cables at the shifter, but if not, you may need to replace your cables and/or arms with the ones which will match either your trans or car. It's a serious PITA.

Jack, thanks for your reply! I need to stop into your shop sometime. I've been meaning to. Im in town every year for pikes peak.

About the car, could the first gear issue be a clutch disengagement issue, or would it be a synchro? Its not the typical small or short grind you get when shifting gears with a bad synchro, its like the gear is still spinning at engine speed. Either way the car has 200k+ so its possible the trans has been replaced, Ill get a number off it and look it up. I just figured id have more issues if the tans/cables were miss matched. I figured adjust the clutch, bleed it, check pedal assembly, check cable adjustment, check cable brackets (as engine was just rebuild by previous owner), maybe shifter bushings, and then go from there.
