Slipping badly, but clutch and pressure plate look brand new?

Here's the deal, one day when I pulled my car out, it was making all kinds of nasty rattling noises in the drivetrain like something blew apart, and then it proceeded to slip like all hell in first gear, tried putting it in gear multiple times, to make sure I wasn't missing the gear, and no avail, still barely went anywhere. Now after taking it all apart thinking something broke, the clutch and pressure plate look almost new, and they are not covered in any fluid either.
Anyone know what else could cause this, I'm thinking it has to be the transmission, but idk how a manual transmission could possibly slip(the transmission itself that is).

So if/when you pulled the tranny out, was there any metal shavings on the oil drain bolt?
