Anyone using a Shepard Racing Tranny?

I have been online with Shepard Racing getting pricing info on their race prepped 5-speed tranny. It includes a complete rebuild, better syncros, upgraded second gear, billet shift fork, HD bearings, ect. I was wondering if anyone in hear is using one or has heard anything about them, Im putting a new engine in soon and wanted to get the tranny done at the same time.
any input much appreciated

The typical rebuild for a AWD 5-speed with new parts and basic weakpoints upgraded is $895

I have been using Shep trannys for years. A bunch of New England Club DSM guys are also using them with great results. I highly recommend John!

i know kilurv8 is running on a stock tranny, so johns 895 rebuild should handle quite a bit of power??

Would you guys recommend getting a rebuild from them or getting a new one (can get one for about 900 shipped). I'm looking to spend less then 1000 so get back to me on that with a descion or better options I can take. Thanks.

do you mean like a "never been used before" brand new, or did he rebuild your original tranny?

sorry for asking but i didnt think they offered new tranny's, i thought they just rebuilt your existing tranny.....

my existing tranny was pretty fubar. so i sent it in as a core to him and he got a company to send him a reman tranny. when he recieved that tranny it was brand new though cause they where all out of remans. so same price i got a brand new one

ok, good deal, i just wasnt sure...

would you mind telling me how you shipped the tranny to him? and about how much that cost you?

i shipped the tranny to him in a large box that an obx exhaust came in. my friend helping me on the car works at a car shop and gave me the box, then i put a plywood base on the thing and put a ton of bubble wrap all around the box to keep the tranny from moving around. it wieght 102 lbs and i shipped it fedex from nc to ohio to him and it cost me about 50 bucks with 1500 insurance. i used a lot of the ways to ship it said on tre's website, its a good basis. for shep to send it back it cost about 80 bucks and he split the shipping with me cause he is going ups, he has to do it that way for a private addy. any more info feel free to ask or im me at the same name as on here
