What all can cause a gear to grind? I know if you don't press the clutch the whole way to the floor when you put it into gear it could do it but what else can cause it? I had it happen today and I was pretty sure I had the clutch the whole way down. How bad can this F*ck up your tranny/clutch???

It can be caused by a bunch of things. Most people blame the synchros, but they're just what make the noise. It could be that you need to bleed the slave cylinder, it could be that you need to adjust the rod up under the dash, it could be that your clutch pedal assembly is rounded causing the clutch to not fully disengage... it could be more than one thing. Bleeding the clutch slave cylinder is a good place to start.
