someone help me figure out the trans problem

this is related to the other thread in here i started about fixing a trans. Basically when i start driving in 1st and 2nd and sometimes in 3rd gear at around 2-3500k rpms (per gear) i'll hear a scraping/scratching noise, similar to metal dragging on the ground or car bottoming out, but its coming directly from the trans. It has no effect on performance but i took it to a trans shop and they couldnt tell me what was wrong. Has anyone ever dealt with something like this?

it could be the shield thing that goes around the flywheel area that has started to come apart and is scraping against the flywheel..... ive seen it happen before....

well i guess it doesnt matter what exactly teh problem is anyway. The whole fee is the labor to open the trans up. o well i'll be down 500-1k $

This same thing is wrong with my car. When i rev the car up to about 2000 rpm in neutral, with the clutch out, it makes the same noise, but when i press the clutch pedal down, the noise stops. It also does it when the car is in gear!! What the hell is this noise??
