some qs about a swap

Hi, I have a 91 tsi awd, and i just rebuilt the head and this spring im planing on redoing the bottom end, so ill have a fresh motor, but my car is kind of beat up, there a dent in the passange side fender, its rotted out inside the drives door and above the wheel, so im ether looking for a shell to put my motor and trans in to or there is a 91 1.8 auto that i can get really cheap so i was wondering if i could put a five speed in that and bolt my motor up?? or will a 1g awd trany if into a 2g car?? sorry for the long post help me out if you can, i hate driving around in a fast car with nice rims that looks like crap.
