im trying to gauge if there is a need in the commumity for these?

these are the bushings that go between the frame and subframe of the front and rear subframes. i dont think mitsu is making them anymore there are 8 bushings on the front and 8 for the rear. ill try to get a picture of one up tonight.

But does anyone want or need these is the real question. im thinking of making a test set for my 95 gsx (even though i think mine are ok) to see the best way to make them.

they would likely be made of steel and polyurethane.

does anyone have any input on this or know of anyone who makes them? i have had several people ask me if i could make them

thanks

Which bushings exactly are you refering to? When you say 8 rear bushings, sounds like you mean the bushings that get sandwiched above & below the subframe? If this is the case, those are still available seperatly from Mitsu (well atleast they were last spring as I bought all new for the awd swap). The bushings that aren't available are the 4 that are pressed into the rear subframe (well they still may be available but the only way to get them is already pressed into a new subframe which is around $850). I think there would be a demand for these as some have made them from solid aluminum but most don't like that idea for a daily driver car as it will transmit all noise/vibration from the rear diff into the body. A urthane replacement for this area would defently be a good idea.

the ones that get sandwiched are the ones i am talking about i bought some 2 months ago and only the bottom one for the rear were avaiable but the upper ones were not avaible to even order so im not sure if they are or not. and i didnt check on the front subframe bushings either. i could make an aluminum one with a thin optional polyurethane washer over it.

and if your talking about the 3 rear differential bushings, i have already made those and right now Road Race Eng. has them for sale along with MAPerformance.com check them out.

No, not the diff bushings, I know you already make those ;)

So you are meaning the rear "sandwiched" ones (fron't subframe is abit different IIRC but it been awhile). If their no longer available Mitsu must have just recently discontinued them as a buddy also picked them all up a couple months after me without any issues. I would think in this case a larger amount of poly would be more ideal for most as how much dampning would a urthane washer offer?

The other ones I was refering to above are the 4 that are pressed into the subframe corners, which the mounting bolts for the subframe go through. These defently aren't available seperate & I would think there would be a market for them as well. I know on the ECMLink board, there were guys looking for them but the only ones that have been made so far aftermarket, were once again solid aluminum, which most didn't want.

you mean these? if so then ya im in. Boostx is/ may be working on these in poly. and greengoblin made the pics. he said that he was going to give the specs to jay racing. but I am getting ready to do my diff bushings and would like to do them all at once.

daren

are these the bushings that get pressed into the subframe at the four corners?

also does anyone have extra ones for the front and rear. i know the rear is the same in all 4 corners but i have never taken the front apart anyone know if they are the same?

i have the capabilities to pretty much make whatever and also have polyurethane poured/formed for whatever i need

if i can get samples i could make design for a poly version and then the prototype i would test on my car and then i could start making them avaible to everyone

Ya, sort of. It looks like they combined the bushing thats pressed into the subframe with the lower "sandwiched" bushing that your talking about making. So their doing it in two pieces where as the stock setup is normally three bushings.

Hmmm. i dont really see the point of replacing the whole thing, unless there is something i am not seeing. and aluminum is strong but i would think that those 4 points on that subframe are key stress points and i would worrie about the aluminum eventually cracking.

well i was really hoping for a little more intrest in these. i dont think i would be making a complete replacement, just the upper and lower bushing parts as i dont see the point of replacing steel with a weaker aluminum part

so is there anyone else intrested in these???

The subframe bushings I'm refeering too are like the other typical factory bushings with a metal outer sleeve, rubber bushing & then metal inner sleeve. Like the pic, some have replaced this bushing with a solid aluminum because they had no other choice. Urthane bushings (with aluminum sleeves like the diff ones you've made) would be ideal as the rubber in these subframe bushings does wear out & guys are looking for ways to get replacements without going to a solid aluminum bushing. Check the link boards, there a few threads with guys looking for them & other showing interest.

well i have a great design so far just have to work out a few details. it should give all the benifits of solid aluminum without the extra noise and less harsh vibrations. once i have the proto type made and tested on my friends gsx ill see about a group buy

no i have been busy just trying to get my car running LOL... i have the design still i just need to check it to a subframe that has the bushing already removed and im waiting for my friend to get his apart still

Anyone have a clue of the part number on these???
