I will also add Pictures to this fourm ASAP well as soon as I upload on high speed net thanks for any information

OK so I have a Black 1990 plymouth laser 2.0 N/T FWD - I blew the transmission up on that car the N/T 6 bolt motor has 85K on it. My first red laser came with a 93 N/T FWD, AND I just recently bought a 93 Plymouth laser N/T and that has a good transmission but blown motor. When haveing the tranmission out off my black car that I blew up the trannsmission in (Black laser 1990 2.0 N/T FWD Blown Transmission) and compared it next to the (RED Laser 1993 2.0 N/T FWD Transmission) The one shifter linkage (located on the trannsmission where shifter cables go) looks the same but the other one is smaller in length and the other one is noticabley longer would this affect the shifting?

So I am worryed that the diffrence in length will allter the shifting sequence?

I would like to get my black car running (the one that the tranny blew up in). But I guess if no one hasnt done this swap without issue (shifter linkage or shifter cable length) But my other option is to pull the N/T motor out of my black car to replace the blown motor in the green car and use that trannsmission without haveing to worry about swap problems then I would also have another extra trannsmission left for the green car (the one I wanted to swap into the N/T black car). 1 final question how hard would it be for me to use a turbo trannsmission form a 1900 eagle talon? I just need to get one of my cars running sorry I just bought 600 bucks in parts from extreampsi.com and cant wait to fix my car but I am geting held up by not knowing if this will creat a shifting probelm or are all NON TURBO 90-94 transsmissions transferable without any shifting problems?

No. 90's were the oddball year. If you use a 90 trans in a 91-94 you have to swap shifters and shift cables, unless you have the transmission rebuilt with different linkages. It's a simple task.

You should swap the matching shifter and cables from the 1993 car in to the 1990. The in car shifter and the shifter linkage on the transmissions are different on 1990 DSM. You could just try and adjust the shifter cables but I have found that the transmission does not always go fully "in gear".

Damn I should have typed faster.

Wow I never knew that thanks allot!!! :thumb::D

I was thinking about doing a 2g transmission into 90 1G swap how difficult is that to do is there a tutorial on that?

The 2g transmissions have three engine/tranny mounts that attach to the transmission while the 1g only have one. You could swap it over but the fabrication skills need makes it a waste of time for most DSMers.

Tranny gear ratios for DSMs

Actually for the 2G trans in a 1G just use the 1G engine mounts and forget the 2G trans mounts. You will have to try different setups on the cables. Some 91 up cables work and some do not.

Well I decided that I am going to use a 1990 eagle talon turbo 6 bolt FWD Transmission on a 1990 Laser FWD N/T 6 bolt block with a N/T flywheel. But I will have brand new turbo disc and pressure plate for turbo Transmission. The only other flywheel I have has 300,xxx Miles on it.:laser:

I'm not sure if the FWD is the same but when I swapped out my 90 AWD transmission for a 92 I had to just swap the cables and brackets on top of the transmission. If I'm remembering right we tried swapping the cables, brackets, and the shifter base but it wouldn't shift right. I know my shifter base is still a 90 unit but the I think we ended up using the 92 brackets. It's been so long ago now that i can't remember 100% what was changed but do remember playing with it a bit to make it work right.

:laser:Bought another car this would make 8 or 9 DSM's I lost count LOL its my 1993 green DSM I decided I will use the non turbo motor from my black DSM @85k mileage and put that 6 bolt motor in the 1993 non turbo green DSM. The only set back I am going to be forced 2 buy another clutch kit and flywheel for this green car and then ill have most of everything else I need to do the major maintenance before winter but will be running soon I also get free inspection cause my bro owes me allot of money. but anyway with this setup I will have 2 spare transmissions in case another transmission shits the bed on me again.:laser:

And after winter I will work on my 3 turbo cars so I can it least move them from there slumber once awhile. But I only got to drive in black one for like 4 months then the transmission went on the highway 5th gear about 80 or 90 MPH. $40 bucks for the tow home:thumb:
