So today I was driving around. As I launch, my car just stops and revs. I thought it popped out of gear, well it didn't. After pushing the car to the side of the road and hearing a clicking noise, my conclusion is broken axles. About 6 hours later I get my car home and I am tired as hell. What options do I have as far as aftermarket axles or something that is much stronger than stock and does anyone have any hints/tips on replacing axles or dealing with broken ones? Or does anyone think its something other than the axles?

Please all input is appreciated as this is the worst problem I have had with my car so far...

Looked through advanced auto and they have two different brands available. One brand, GSP, has the axles listed at 70 bucks a piece. The other, Powerline, has them listed at 60 bucks a piece. Comments?

I would check the axles to confirm a joint is broken.
If not actually take them out and begin to check for sheared splines on both ends. If still nothing, then it could be a internal trans thing like broken differential ring gear teeth, etc.
Hopefully, you just broke an axle. Get one with a lifetime warranty, so next time it happens it will cost nothing except the few minutes labor it takes you to do it.

Well the dumb ass who had the car before me said that he made "custom" axles to eliminate torque steer, even though he put the LSD insert in there. My dad checked it out and it looks like they snapped at the welds. I'm praying that that is the problem as new axles from advanced are like 70 bucks a piece and that is what I would like to pay. I will also check what you had mentioned.

The one from GSP is a brand new one vs the one from Powerline being remaned. Both have a lifetime warranty against manufacture's defect, not against abusive driving. Unless you have a friend that works there, they will only warranty them 1-2 times before they say its something with your driving or your car.

Either way you go on them though, check the splines on both ends to be sure they haven't been mushroomed over before you try to put it in. I've had a couple that I've had to file the spline a bit.

^ Like they were saying, GSP is a brand new axle with all new parts compared to our Powerline brand which are remanufactured (which means they only replaced what was broken when they got it at the factor). I have warrantied quite a few of our powerline's at work (I work at Advance Auto Parts), but I am using them and have not had any problems. Also if you ever do warranty anything out at advance, do not say what you were doing when it broke, and don't give out information that your car is modified. Just tell them its a piece of crap, and we will take care of you.

Haha its always nice to get a little bit of inside information. And I am now even more torn between the two. The powerlines are in stock, remanufactured and 10 bucks cheaper. But they carry a 30 dollar core, and they said that if my axles are broken, i wont get my core. The GSP would have to be ordered, no core, and are 10 dollars more expensive. :p Dilemma

It does not matter if your axles are broken. It's considered a core, which means your shit is broke. That's why we send them off and they get rebuilt. If they give you problems you should just call me, and I will take care of it for you.

If you read the fine print, cores have to be considered rebuildable. For the most part, most workers don't care that they are broken, but in the big picture the store may not get credit for the core. Which means less money can be used for store supplies or other things needed for the store.

So technically they can refuse your cores. Will they?, probably not but something to keep in mind that they can if they want.

Technically we can refuse service to anyone. Technically we don't have to be nice. :DROFLROFL

if yours is broken and they won't take it as a core then get the New one, no brainer there right. 60+30=90 for rebuilt if your core is trash and 70 for new one no core.

Ok so im finally revisiting my problem. Between graduation, work, and many other things i havent been able to work on my car. So now with all that out of the way im going to start fixing it. The biggest thing i just remembered is the fact that my car has a 3kgt tranny in it. This now means that i need the 3kgt axle where it meets the tranny and eclipse for the rest? Anyone have any ideas? I guess probably the easiest but probably the longest way of doing it is having a drivetrain shop fab me up an axle. Am i correct with my logic for the axle and does anyone have any ideas? ive already had like 3 weeks of down time and im not looking to have another month of it.

nope, the fwd nt 3kgt trannies work with minimal modification. and obviously it works if my car moves and it has the tranny

I'll sell you some Raxles for cheap with a lifetime warranty. I have the exact one you need!

Are you serious?

You got pics? The starter is placed on the front of 3kgt's and dsm's have it mounted on the back of the trans.

LOL? Areyou serious dude? the transmission works, its a proven fact. Why are you questioning me when it works?

Ok yea you dont have what i need then. I need a hybrid 3kgt/1g fwd turbo axle. Thanks anyways LOL
