n/t tranny and turbo tranny?

I dont know how to tell the difference but the 5spd tranny’s on the NT have a higher final gear then the turbos, allowing for a faster bottom end, but less top end. So quicker 1/4 times.

hmm... are they just as strong? cause i need a tranny and if the non turbos work just as good i could do that

i dont think it woud work considering you have all AWD?? unless your talkin about a 1g Nt

People have said the nt's are weaker, but I can not vouch for that. I've run both 2.0 nt and turbo trannies and yes, the nt gears are shorter. The nt also has a shorter bellhousing, and requires a matching flywheel and clutch kit. The turbo flywheel and pp will not fit.

To tell the difference, look on the top of the bellhousing. The turbo tranny should have F5M33 stamped in it. The nt should have F5M22.

YEs there different ive done two on n/t and now my turbo flywheel for a turbo is different from a non turbo. Nt held up for a while for me, but not that long a few months she was toast, it also wasnt new.
Part numbers are on the top.

Good choice. The 1G NT trannies have gears that look like a toy. They are tiny and break easily. IOW, they suck. Get a late 91+ turbo trans and forget about it.

Be careful with the 90 turbo units. Some of them had the same tiny gears as the NTs.

If you put them side by side it's easy to tell the difference in them as the bell housing is smaller and has less support in the 90 and NT units.
