I bought a short shifter (Pacesetter) for my 90 GSX. I'm trying to install it, but it the bottom piece is too big! Has anyone else had this problem? How can I fix it?

ive heard the 90 and 89 shifter are different than other 1g cars. ive looked into the pacesetter for my 91. and it says it is for 90-94 or something like that. it wont fit the 90 if they really are different.

thanks for the info. I wonder why they would sell it for the 89 and 90 if it won't fit? anybody else heard anything about this?

I ran into this problem about an hour ago. I just looked it up on vfaq.com. The 90 shifter is diferent from the 91-94 shifter. Making it work requires swapping the whole shifter setup and the shifter cables from a 91-94 into your 90. I dont know if its worth it. But ive got the parts, so I might as well. Ill get it done tommorow and tell tell you how it works out.
