I have the 91 tranny, 91 t-case... and the shaft that connects the two...

Do i NEED the 91 shift linkages? I hear they are better, so i will try and get them, but will the 90's work if need be?

Also anything else i should be aware of?

you'll need 91 cables, shifter, transmission bracket (holds the cable ends on the transission, you'll need both pieces). you can probably modify your current setup (i used a torch/welder to move the front/back cable holder so it would go into all gears). check VFAQ, they have a good article on the differences of the shifter systems

Cool, i'll see what i can do about getting those other parts...

As far as the shifter is concerned... what if i just get an aftermarket short throw shifter?

yeah, youc ould get a mofugas or similar shortshifter and retain your 90 model shifter/cables/brackets but like mentioned, you'll have to MAKE it work. and this stuff adjusted imporperly can lead to blowing a transmission if you 'overshift'.

Oh, i see... i was gonna replace the cables/brackets, and i figured the shortshifter would change out the whole shifter...

Welp, this is gonna be fun, hehe.
