I am shifting correctly? I'm still kinda new to driving stick.

Anyways when I up shift, I let of the gas, push the clutch down, shift, then gently apply a little gas then feather out the clutch to make a smooth transition. Is that how it's done? Or should I feather out the clutch before any gas? Or does it depend if it's a race or not.

So far doin it the way I have been has gotten me in trouble once. Basically I down shift to 3rd, passed a car and when I had to #### into 4th I feathered out my clutch to slow then I thought it all caught but it didn't a lurched my car foward a little hard....probably roasted my clutch a little too but i didn't smell anything.

1st to 2nd gear seems to be the hardest transition for me. The rest of the gears go real easy.
