Hey guys, I have a question. So some of you flash your ECU's, but what I'm wondering is, can I Flash my TCU?

I ordered one off of a 97 GST, and from what I've been told the 97-99's are all the same. My car is a 99 GST. All I'm asking is, will I be able to flash the 97 TCU and it will work properly in my 99 GST?

Solution
I went to the Mitsubishi dealership today and they said no, its all plug and play. As long as its within the same year and model (ex. turbo GST) so it will go in as soon as it arrives. It didn't get here today so hopefully tomorrow, Saturday.
I would think as long as they are both gst, it should work. I believe there is only one auto fwd tranny, the f4a33.

There is a guy that does it for 1g, highpsitsiguy, i believe. not sure if he does it for 2g

I dont think you need to worry about flashing. The 97 TCU should run your trans just like a 99.

What would they "flash" thats what i don't understand..... SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME OUT ASAP! Im putting this in tomorrow if i don't need to flash it.... if you know anyone with this experience could you please ask for me!

You don't HAVE to rechip or reflash anything. What they are saying is that if you WANTED to change the programming in your TCU then you would have to find a EPROM TCU to have it done.

i really dont think it needs to be reflashed as long as it came from another fwd turbo 2g. Just put it in and give it a go!

On the same topic kind of, does anyone know what to re-write when someone does re-flash a TCU? I'd like to get full line pressure only when I'm over say 50% or 75% throttle. What needs to be changed in order to make this happen?
