1g fwd turbo tranny and non turbo the same?

Yes. The turbo and non turbo 1g transmissions are close. You'll need a non turbo flywheel and clutch though. The non turbo transmissions have a smaller bell housing on them. The clutch is only 215mm on the non turbo and the turbo one's are 225mm. I could be off on the numbers though. It could be 205mm on turbo and 215 turbo, I'll check. But I know for a fact the non turbo's are smaller.
 
I stand corrected. According to a retailer the 90 to 94 turbo and non turbo's are the same. It's the 1.8L that's smaller. The turbo and non turbo 2.0L 4g63 (not the 1.8L) are all 215mm clutches. The 1.8L clutches are 200mm.

Don't forget the 1990's are different then the 91 to 94's (shift linkage wise)...
 
You will need the plate that goes between the engine and tranny or your starter will not fit because it's in a slightly different spot. I'd hate to see you get the tranny all in and have to take it back out cause you cant bolt up the starter.

I think the turbo trannies are stronger inside than the nonturbo ones.
 
Yep, it will work. Other items not already addressed, the NT tranny has shorter gear ratio's and takes less gear fluid. Also, you may have to remove the dowel pin from the turbo crank. I can't recall it the NT flywheel has a hole for the dowel.
 
Im suprised they make a weaker tranny that is so close why not just use the same one?So its not a dirrect bolt on then?
 
Starter plate is different, flywheel and clutch size is bigger on the turbo model. I'm highly against running the non turbo tranny in a turbo car. the smaller gear ratios make it nice and quick but it isnt going to hold up trust me. I've turbo'd my N/T and blew up third gear doing a nice gradual acceleration.
