Internal tranny part swap question.

So the 95 awd transmission currently in my car grinds as soon as I start letting out the clutch. I have a spare 97 trans in my garage that has a blown center differential along with a busted bell housing. Anyways, would I be able to swap the intermediate and input shafts with all gears on them right into my 95 transmission with no problems? I would also swap the shaft that slides into the transfer acse so I can use a 97tcase that I have laying around.

If you do you run the chance of the same problem. You should just rebuild it you have no idea if the other trans is in better shape.

The gears in my spare transmission are fine, it was pushed to its limit at a track a while ago causing the center diff to go. I just need to know if the swap is do able or not. But I take that as a yes. Thanks

The internals should be the same. Keep in mind though that you "might" need different shims on the sides where the axles would go in (you should see what I'm talking about when you have it apart. It's like a big metal washer but they have different thicknesses) because the casting thickness might not be the same. If you don't check it and it's too tight, you'll end up burning it up. If it's too loose you may have some slop and break something. But my guess is that you'll more than likely be okay.
