Well, my friend bought a 92 laser AWD with a "cyclone swap" in it, he let me test drive it today and i figured that of course the synchros would be going so i took it easy and shifted at about 3k real slow and it grinded and i said wow, they're really bad and he said no it always does that so then i took off from a stop sign and shifted into 2nd at 6k and no grind at all...it consistently grinded at low rpms and not high...any suggestions?

well i did like 5 things at once so one of them fixed it, now i'm trying to figure out what the hell fixed it. :]

new motor mounts
tranny mounts
gm synchromesh
cables adjusted
new shifter plate bushings
under hood shifter bushing (dsmparts.com)

now it works good. :p

i bet it was the tranny and engine mount that fixed it. high rpm the engine is tilted backwards, low rpm and idle the engine leaned forwards i guess cause the mounts were crap. so something wasn't in spec like this.

who knows :p go for the gusto and get it all done at once too, keep the mystery alive.

nevermind, none of that fixed it, it came back...

it's stupid, the more i beat the piss out of 2nd gear, the smoother my tranny shifts.

so as long as i haul ass to 6000 rpms twice during a drive, i'm golden.

heh, i'm gonna blow shit up i know it.
