I need new axles/cv joints for my 97 auto gsx. Now can I go into a Oriley's or autozone and tell them what I have and expect to get the right part? Or is this something I need to research to get correct part numbers?

Some parts stores are better than others about getting the right product the first time. Alot of it has to do with the guys at the parts counter, as well as the overall quality of the product brand that they carry.

My local Napa has some pretty nice CV joints for DSMs. They get them in same-day and for $65, brand new. I've had yet to have one fail. Just make sure you bring along a set of dial calipers and mic the shaft diameter. I've had more case than one where the shaft diameter was actually too large by .040"-.080" and it wouldn't even come close to squeezing into the differential housing.

Ohh, and price one out "new" and "rebuilt". In many cases, a brand new, lifetime warranty cv axle is only $5-$10 more than rebuilt.

Why not Raxles - Raxles Home I had mine on for over a year and the boot split and I sent it back and they replaced it for free!

I live in Gainesville where Raxles is and have spoke personally with and done work for the owner.

I called for a 93-94 set of FWD axles and he said they had to be custom made, nobody stocks them and he doesn't have the parrts to make them and he promply rushed me off the phone.

I understand being on the way out for lunch and rushing to get off the phone but he was rude as hell and straight up lied.

Carquest knew what they were talking about and got me the axles in less than 24 hours

Carquest is where its at...F Raxles!

just replaced both my axles and ADVANCE auto parts couldnt get me the right drivers side axle. they ordered 2 and they were both the same as my passenger side (male/male) so they ordered one for a 94 and it worked BUT it didnt have the teeth for the ABS which is alright for me b/c mine doesnt work anyways. the vendor they used was GSP

P.S. everytime i had to get a new axle i had to wait a day. 3 days wasted...

i agree with Raxles. I have them for front axles and besides all new parts, he told me to send them back with any problems and hed send me a new one. great people and great product.

Rotary thats the same issue I had, gsp was the brand. I got mine in at napa today, and they appear to be correct thankfully. My next choice would've been raxles.

ok, so the question here is, on the drivers side axle on all talons/eclipses, do they all have 1 female end and 1 male end? i think thats a true statement so im going to do a lil research and if what i find is true im going to go talk to the stores manager and see what can be done.
