Hello everyone! I'm looking for a clutch for my 2G AWD. I am considering an ACT 2100, but want a bit more holding power w/o the fear of aggravating crankwalk (2600) It's my understanding that the clutchmaster's stage 3 clutch holds as much as the act2600 w/o as much pressure on the crank.

-Has anyone used any clutchmaster clutches? Opinions?

-Should I go w/ the 2100? I don't race on the street. I will go to the track maybe 5-6 times a year. I have a t28 and will run around 18-19 psi on the street once I get injectors and fuel control.

Please post any experiences with clutchmaster clutches.

thankyou!-MIKE

I'm not sure about Clutchmasters but I have an ACT 2600 and I love everything about it and wouldn't settle for anything else. We both have the AWD so were similiar in that way. However, I'm not to sure about the crankwalk situation. I would reasearch into if the ACT does actually induce walk and if not get the 2600 - its a bad-ass clutch.

I was happy with my Clutchmaster's clutch until I drove my friend's Talon. He has an ACT 2600 and it blow's away the Clutchmaster's unit. I would say go with the ACT, even if you get the 2100 you still should be fine.

thumbs up for centerforce dual friction, 20k and a daily beatdown for two years, w/ some track passes as well. holds as well as day 1. pedal feels like stock, ACT sucks IMO, unless you like having your left calf muscle twice as big as your right. Not comfortable at all for a daily driver.

I am considering the Centerforce PP/ ACT disk combo. Does anyone sell this combo?

My brother has a CM Stage III on his 97 GSX, after 40 drag passes and daily driving duties the clutch went south after 8,000 miles on the clutch.

We are testing out the ACT 2600 now to see if it last any longer.

Oh yeah, if your wondering the clutch disc shattered on the CM Stage III. Leaving the small springs on the disc everywhere. We have pics if you want to see for yourself.

Good luck on your decision.

DSM_MIKEY,

I wish I could give more detail, but I bought my car with a CM installed .. and the former owner and I tried everything to work with clutch engagement issues and clutch preloading issues that would eventually cause clutch slippage resulting in having to re-adjust the clutch from scratch.

Anyway, we never found out was it was .. but whatever it was was no longer there when I put in my no name $165 clutch which has held up to 12.6 passes better than the CM.

Happy Hunting whatever you decide!

i had a clutchmasters stage 3 in my 96 prelude with the jdm h22a, and i went through 2 of them in 6 months. but i have the act 2600 in my talon, and it does have alittle pedal pressure, but this clutch grabs really hard. i like it alot better than the clutchmasters

I am very happy with my 2600, but I've never owned a CM or CFDF, so I cannot give a useful comparison. Nevertheless, I would not hesitate to purchase another 2600, it simply works.

Good luck and Merry Christmas,

had a CM in my 240 and after 13k in went to ####... put in an ACt and loved it, still held like new after 20k wgen i sold her... you will get a bigger left calf though, but it is worth it i think..;)

act 2100....holds up good for me..do just a bit of street racing and doesn't slip...i dont beat on it tho but as far as streetability  VERY easy to drive...get a 2100 IMHO if ur that afraid of walking, but if u wanna say F**k get a 2600... www.eclipsegsx.com <he talks about getting a CFDF in spite of everyone on the digest saying get an ACT, couple or so months down the road it went out on him so he bought an ACT....ur decision hope this helps

Yeah, I just put a 2100 in my car and I love it. Pedal pressure is still very streetable and it's easy to drive. Granted I may not go to the track as often as the guys with 2600s, but for regular speeding it will hold up just fine.

ACT 2600 is hands down the best clutch for a DSM.

I put in 6 clutches in a year dealing with the crooks that call themselves ClutchMasters.

ClutchBastards is more like it.

;) I had a 4puck by CM worked great !!! The puck is alot more violent if you dont know how to engage one, so day to day driving is not so relaxed anymore, you have to respond with your rpm.s more.
My friends both run the ACT 2600 extreme, love it for both street/mild strip use.
I bought the 6puck to try fromACT myself, but we all run 20g or simular turbo upgrades. In the 400+hp range.................

same here clutchmaster stage 4. so far, no signs of trouble. the pedal pressure of this clutch is soft compare to act 2600. I had it now for 6 months.

IMHO... if you're running up to a 16G the 2100# is more than enough clutch. Pedal feel is near stock and engagement is very smooth (it loves traffic.. I do not).

If you doubt it's holding power.. i'd like to show you my broken center diff and rear axle (3-bolt) which it left in the wake of a 6K RPM launch

wow, extreme newbie question here LOL but umm what is the difference b/t clutch and how can you tell if its "good" or not. im getting my sachs clutch put in within a week so how do i know if its a "good" clutch. You guys are sayin how oh you like the feal of this and that...dont they all feal the same? and if not, why cant u just get used to how it feals rather than saying you DONT like how it feals? haha i know, i probably sound like an idiot but oh well.

..anything is better than stock. depending on your future HP goals.. getting the right clutch the first time can save you time and $$$. Check out RRE for more info.

I know of guys who run the 2100 into 11 second 1/4 passes and it holds up ok. It's all in the launch. I had the 2600 on my GTi and I didn't mind the pedal feel at all. After about a week I honestly couldn't tell it has an aftermarket clutch in it anymore.. Im going around saying "oh yeah it's feels just like a stock clutch I can't even tell" and most people would push the pedal and say oh yeah that feels pretty stock wow. Then they drive it and the first time they try to engage it, the car either stalls or they peel the tires because of the sharp engagement. It was pretty funny...

The 2100 or 2600 are both great choices. ACT now has a street performance disc that is better then the standard disc they offered before. Doesn't hold anymore HP but it doesn't heat up as quickly and will take a lot more abuse.

I have a 2100 with street performance disc for my 2G and will see how it is in the spring. I'm wanting to make 350wheel HP and use a 2100 with street disc so I'll see how long it takes.

From what I understand of other guys using that disc and making a lot more power than I am is it will last for around 1 year of street/strip use so just plan on replacing every spring.. But no CW!

ACT all the way John Shepard Runs 9s on it enough said.

Centerforce can blow me, I had one for less then 12months and it was almost completely worn out when I removed it only was at the track twice.

Never had a clutchmasters so I cant commit. Mitsubishi disks seem to work well with aftermarket pressure plates. Dan Cokic runs one with a 2600lb pressure plate and is pushing 500hp, I think I might try this setup next time my clutch goes out. :dsm:
