Well I was getting so pissed because my 1g eclipse was so hard to put into gear, and it would grind gears and especially reverse gear. I noticed that I could pull my clutch pedal up about an inch, so I new the pedal assembly was worn and needed to be welded. After putting it off for a while I couldn't get the car into gear. So I took the assembly out (huge pain in the ass) and welded it and WOW. My car shifts like butter into all gears and is fun to drive again. I followed the tech article on this site and it worked great. Definately worth the time is takes. Best single thing that I have done to the car-->highly recommended.

well, from start to finish it took me two days because after I got it all back together, I didn't adjust the master cylinder rod correctly so I had to take it all apart again. Working under the dash is a huge pain in the ass but it was totally worth it. My car goes into gear now with no effert. I was going to sell it but now I want to keep it because it drives so nice. You could do the job in a few hours if you know what you are doing. Although I highly recommend taking the whole steering column and bracket out because it makes it a lot easier to work under the dash. If you are a big guy like me it sucks!! but the car shifts like butter now, even into reverse!!;)

If I do that I'll probably just take the drivers seat out for more room. It would be a lot easier than the steering column.

well, the drivers seat actually doesn't really get in the way, although it will make it easier. The problem is that you can't reach the clutch pedal adjustment, and the cotter pin with the steering column where it sits. Removing the column is so easy and makes things 100x easier to work in that area, trust me. Also you need to have the column and column bracket out to be able to remove the pedal assembly or else you will never get it out. Getting the pedal assembly out is the hardest part of the whole operation.
