is this worth it for the price

a shop i know said that i can convert my car to a manual with a upgrader clutch and short shifter for around 1,700.Im just wondering because everyone always say ahh an automatic that sucks.and most cars that have manuals and have the same hp somtimes even less still beat me because i have a stupid auto.so should i or shouldnt i convert it?if anyone here has already done this was it worth it?

That's not a bad price if it includes parts. I've seen the swap done and labor usually run's 1300-1500 alone.
