Does anyone make racing xmissions for 1g's

Ok...I just paid Roseville Mitsubishi here 1400 dollars to rebuild my transmission about 2 months ago. NOW...every single time I shift into second gear - whether up or down - it grinds. Plus, when idling with my foot off the clutch, I can't shift into any other gears. Something stops it before the gears can grind and even break, except for second gear. I can just shove it into gear, hear it grind, and even feel the teeth on the gears hitting eachother through the shifter. I DON'T like it! I've said "screw Mitsubishi" at this point. They suck. They're insanely expensive. I want to put a different tranny in, but if I'm putting a new one in, why not put a *better* one in?

Does anyone around make upgraded or racing trannys for my gsx that I can buy and just swap out? That's all I want to know.

Do you mean with the motor turned OFF? OR are you trying to shift at idle with the motor on, WITHOUT THE CLUTCH?

Don't know how close, or far, you are (i see you are in CA) but RRE (Road Race Engineering) could do it for you. If you want to ship it, TRE, Shepherd Racing or BM can help you also, to name a few. You could also do it yourself if you are mechanically inclined in the least. It isn't too difficult and if I can do it, it can't be too hard

No no no...when the car is idling, I know that I usually can't shift into any gear without the clutch in even if I tried. I've hit the shifter before on accident and something stopped it. So, when sitting at stop lights and I'm bored, I'll just sort of go between gears, hitting the blocker as I do...except this time there was no blocker...I just went right past it and ground the gears together.

Put another vote for John Shephard! We have a bunch of guys in New England running his trannys with very good results. And you can't beat his prices and delivery times!

I can't seem to find any info on Shepard's tranny upgrades. Mind filling us in on it?

And if possible, how much is a basic rebuild? Is it comparable to TRE or BM? TIA!

i have a shepracing trans and i love it its smooth as silk and johns a good guy to do business with.

Sheps tranny upgrades are just like everyone elses... stronger forks, ears, better syncros, double second if you don't have it, better magnet, filter, HD gear upgrades, etc etc.... Each shop listed does good work. I have TRE parts in my trans that I built and it is nice. I have a trans in my other car rebuilt with mixed-matched best parts from Mistu and it shifts nice. My friend has a BM trans and it shifts nice. Yet another friend has a shep trans and it too shifts nice. They are all comparable to each other, with mine being the best (IMHO) because I built them so ended up paying less than my friends. As for labor or cost, you'll pay around the same, for the most part, no matter where you go.
