Steel Shift Fork Bushes

Guys,

I'm in New Zealand and I'm just in the process of rebuilding my tranny .

I have the Evo 3 spec steel shift forks in the trans and when I pulled it down i noticed that one of the Nylon wear pads / bushes on the shifter had gone

Q: - Do I need to replace the entire fork due to this part going walk about or will it shift just fine without it ?

Any help would be great

I wouldn't use the part unless a machine shop can put on somr new metal pads. Without a pad, it'll cause the sleeve to not fully engage and some slop in the tranny.

You would need to have a compentent machine shop either replace the wear pads with bronze wear pads or entirely replace the fork.

I have heard this happens a lot. One question I have is that these are production forks put on a production car. Do they come off on the Evos as well?

When mine wore out it wouldn't let third gear slide in all the way, and it damaged the engagement splines on the gear and the slider so it constantly popped out of third gear. That sucked. TRE puts bronze pads on the ends of the steel forks. Try www.teamrip.com Lots of cool info there.
