Did any one else with a 2g have problems installing the rear motor mount? The inserts seem to small??? Its the prthane set with the front and rear inserts and the side replacements? Wierd thing is that the Front mount fits in the rear to?? Answers or solutions?

It was pretty straight forward. The insterts should fit like a glove really. Almost as if the motor mount was a mold to cast the insert. Did you use them in their correct places? Start with the front mount insert, and you will see there are two of the four insterts that fit absolutely flawlessly. The other two will belong in the rear, which is a snug fit between the motor mount brackets.

It sounds to me like you got 2 sets of inserts for the front mount. I have the energy suspension inserts but their pretty much the same. The front inserts should only fit the front mount & the rears should only fit in the rear.

this is a pic of the mounts i got. im thinking of just buying another set of front mounts for the rear being as that they fit snug in the front and rear... I tried to swap out the front and rears after i did them thinking that maybe i couldnt read, but the one set of mounts labeled rear mounts wont fit on the front or rear... Kinda weird??

Hmmm this is strange. Now if I recall correctly those do look like the correct mounts & as you can see they are different & are designed to go in one of the mounts. Is it possible that somehow you have front "inners" on both mounts?

What do you mean front innners? Like the same mount on front and rear? like a oem screw up? dont think so but i gues i dont know.

try its because the car is an automatic and prothane designed that kit for a manual trans. Check the service manual there is a difference in the spacing and shaping of the rubber in the mounts between auto and stick

the factory mount isn't torn?
Do you have the inserts upside down?
If nothing else works you can always do the window weld trick.

When I did mine the rear wouldn't fit (stupid automatics) I also noticed that when the rear was installed the bolt that goes thru the bushing was stuck thru the split in the mount. I ordered a new mount from Norco Mits, filled with window weld and then installed it.

Take an intercooler silicone coupler and cut it ni half. Wrap the insert that is too small in it. The coupler gives enough of a shim for the insert to fit snuggly.

Sorry to thread jump but I'm having those installed in my car while they are doing a 6 bolt swap and they recommended that I only install the front and the rear on account that you will feel a lot more vibration if you install the sides. Is this correct? Should I worry about anything? They haven't dropped the engine in yet so it's not too late to change my mind. Btw, I have an auto and they never mentioned a problem with that.

Put them all in. Honestly, the vibrations aren't that bad.

Ya, that part does look right.

Left = rear
Right = front
