New toy made it Thursday.

New Kar King LSD. Pic 2 Helical gear design like the Quaife. Doesn't lock as quickly as a clutch pack type but ho well.

No more 1 wheel drive pegleg burnouts.

Fantastic!!! Isn't the Quaife a bit more? I love the supply and demand based capitalistic system:D !

But, I can get an awd shell w/ a tranny for that priceLOL . Nevertheless, this is very, very nice.

Yes the Quaife is more, $1050-1075. Looks great man :thumb: Keep us updated on how this thing performs. I recently picked up a Quaife to install next month when the ride comes out of storage. Can't hardly wait, no more one wheel peel ;)

Will keep you all updated. I am having a hell of a time getting help to get the transaxle pulled in the TSi. Hopefully this week I can get it done and post lots of pics!!

It looks like from his pics that the Karking ATB LSD has the speedo gear cast onto the diff like that of a stock diff.

Please let us know what else was needed. Did you buy new bearings or use the old ones? Did you buy the smim kit? Anything else? Thanks.

Have this LSD and love it! Makes a world of difference, and cornering with this thing is amazing. Install was a breeze- a bit of solder and a dial caliper. Gotta love the 60lbs less drivetrain mass than AWD!!! :)

Scrymerr, just wondering if you took your GST back out to the track and compare your old timeslip to a new run with your LSD installed?

When I installed my LSD I got new bearings and a shim kit. Most of the time you can get the old bearings off to reuse, but why take a chance of a used bearing going & have to take it all back apart to fix. As for the shim kit it turns out that mine didn't require any.

Just wondering what you meant by solder? What did you have to solder to make it work. How has it been working,My diff just grenaded and im contemplating this or a quaife.

The solder is used to determine shim size much like plastigage.

The KarKing unit I purchased is actually designed a little better than the Quaife and 99% of the time the unit does not requre the shims. Mine didn't. Also, my Karking unit came with new bearings pressed on.

The Karking is also worth it. It is designed exactly like a quiafe, and its $300-500 less than a quaife. The car is awesome with the lsd. I love the actual posi burnouts now. Take a look in my gallery for a pic of what I mean.

Are you (only) talking about the casing, bearings, and such (including the pre-cut speedo gear, which is a really nice touch) or are you saying the internals of a KarKing are better than a Quaife? And, if so, what about the internals is better?

My Quaife didn't require shims either. It is nice that the KarKing comes with the speedo gear already cast into the housing. Whats the KarKing warranty like, is theirs covered by a lifetime warranty, racing included and is transferable between owners?

That is what I was wondering also.I like that the quaife is a lifetime warranty.I dont wanna have to buy one of these again.

That is the only downfall to the KarKing. It only has a 1 yr. warratny but honestly has anyone broken one of these or a Quaife front diff? I havn't seen it.

Well the KarKing is probably to new for any failures & no your right you never hear of the front Quaife's breaking. I do know I feel alot better when spending that kind of money that I'm always going to be covered. Also if the time comes to sell it, I'm sure someone would be willing to shell out more for a unit that is still going to be under warranty if something did happen, I know I would.
