I just had my trans worked on...first they rebuilt it and didn't do it right so they just put a used one in.

The thing is when I went and test drove it the other day I wasn't real happy about the way it shifts..

When it leaves a gear its almost like hitting a bump...does it at every gear, upshifting and down...

now..what I wanna know is, do ya'll think this is just from it having sat on a shelf for God knows how long and maybe the valve body's just stiff and needs to be driven to maybe loosen it up...or is this just the gear setup in this trans and I'm gonna have to live with it or pay for another trannie swap, or do you maybe think there's something wrong with this trans...

I am stumped..I HATE the way it shifts..like it has a POS shift kit in it or something :|

i have a 98 talon . it downshifts real hard when coming to stops i have had this problem since i bought the car about 3 months ago. i took it to the place i bought it because its still under warranty and they sent it to a tranny place twice and still havent fixed it right . this time i think they are just replacing the transmission. but i dont think its from sitting on the shelf becuase mine does the same thing. if you look on www.dsmtalk.com they have a whole section for automatic trannys they might be able to help you out there and check the wiring to the tcu also people say that a wire comes loose often and needs pushed back in. hope i could help you out... good luck

:( well I drove the car Wednesday and all was going good til I hit the Interstate....I got it to 75 then had to back off a bit, took my foot off the gas and noticed that it didnt shift down...I got down to 30 and still my RPM"s were insanely high...its stuck in 3rd again...WTF they've replaced the old tranie (they rebuilt it and did a sh!tty job) and put a BRAND new TCU in it...I am about to give up on this...it's been to 3 mechanics and it's still doing the same thing...my mind is blown

i have a friend that has a 98 rs automatic and his doesnt down shift from time to time. my best suggestion would be to just slap a shift kit in it and shift it , that way at least you could choose the gearing. i dont know much about shift kits but im sure if you searched or posted someone would know. sorry i couldnt help but i would just get a shift kit if you are planning on keeping the car. good luck
