Hey guys, my Talon was recently towed illegally, and I know they towed it improperly. I've read the normal diagnosis for an improperly towed car would be a toasted VC, but since I literally don't know much about the drivetrain of my car I was wondering if you guys might know the problem. I only drove the car home from the tow yard, and didn't notice the problem until I pulled into my parking space. When the wheel is turned completely to the left or right, the rear wheels lock up. I heard them sliding as I pulled into the space. Also there is a whining sound as I the car reaches speed, whether in or out of gear. I read this might have simething to do with the transfer case. Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Either the viciuos coupler or the center diff(or both) are toast. I hope the towing company is taking care of the damage. If not, even with you doing the labor and buying used parts, it will still probably cost a couple hundred dollars to fix.

It's probably just a seized VC. If the center diff were also blown, you wouldn't get rear-wheel skipping during hard turns, because the front wheels would no longer be connected to the engine (or rear wheels). Remember: the VC connects the input to the rear output. It does not connect the fronts to the rears. Therefore, a seized VC cannot cause skipping without a working center diff.
