i noticed that the act 2900 costs 20-25% less than the 2600... would this be a recommended upgrade instead of a 2600? or would it be overkill? car is still stock, but i'm planning on the following mods this next summer: 3" o2 elim test pipe exhaust, dual stage boost controller, walbro 255 fuel pump, clutch.

i would like the freedom to drop the clutch at 5000 or less occasionally (i like to scare my passengers:D), which is why i'm leaning towards the 2900... any input?

A 2600 is fine. Nothing wrong with a 2900. If you like the pedal pressure go for it.

ok... so dropping the clutch at 5k isn't going to hurt the 2600? i have seen people claiming that after 30-40 3-6k slips it still feels strong to them... but i'd like my clutch to last longer than a year.

how much pedal pressure is there with the 2600 in relation to stock? and do you know how much stiffer the 2900 would be?

2900 will much stiffer than stock. You will probably blow both your master and clutch slave cylinders if they are pretty old.

by old, do you mean lots of miles and use, or just old in years? my car IS a 90, but the miles are less than 15k.

i wouldn't have to worry about the cylinders with a 2600 then? or do you mean the master and slave would give out before the clutch with a 2900 and high rpm slips?

How the hell do you have a 90 DSM with less than 15k on it? Were you saving it or something?? :p

i bought it from the original owner june of 2001, and he took very good care of it (as i do), and rarely drove it. when i first saw it for sale, he said it hadn't been registered for about 1.5 years... at the time, it only had 9300 miles on it... i didn't have a second car for about 8 months, so i put more miles on the car than i would've liked to, but now i've got a second car again, so i can afford to leave the talon alone all winter

if i told you how much i paid for it... i'm sure you wouldn't think the same thing... though i thought it was an awesome deal, and still agree with myself

the 2600 will be way more than enough for what little mods you plan on doing, the stock clutch is good for you untill you upgrade the turbo(In most cases) then if its never driven and hardly at the track I suggest the ACT 2100 I had it it was good for stock but the 2600 is a little ruff on stock cars anyway, and the slave/master cylender will wear due to age the seals are rubber it sits and gets hard and cracks. I say 2100 it will suit you well. Good Luck dont buy the 2900 and the price you see is only for the pressure plate you still need a disk(110) and a TO bearing(40) the 2900 kit is like 410ish
