I came across this a couple minutes ago and wanted to ask you guys if any of you 1g guys have ever tried this.

is there any advantages/disadvantages of using this versus the other 1g short throw shifters for the 1g out there?

It looks like a nice solid piece, am I basically paying for the re-welding they did?

there is nothing "short" about that except for tha fact that they cut the shift lever and welded it back at an angle. Other than that the fulcrum and pivot points are the same as stock.

IMHO - save your cash, get a set of solid shifter bushings "symborksi", and shifter cable bearings. Those will make more of a functional difference to your car than a shortened stock shifter.

You can do the exact same thing by replacing the stock shift handle with a shorter shift knob. I got one out of a Hyundai Scoupe 5 speed and it feels great.
