Well lately, my clutch has been starting to slip like mad anytime i hit boost. It sucks driving around not being able to go anywhere when I hit boost. I am looking to get an ACT 2600 installed. Does anyone have any recommendations for shops in the chicagoland area? I know about AMS, but I hear they are so busy it takes forever to even get your car in their shop.

And lately my car has really been pissing me off. Now I know these aren't the most reliable cars around, but I've had the car for about 2 1/2 months and I've replaced a cv boot, I'm on my 3rd alternator, the thing just started to valve tick like crazy, it's idle surging, the driver's window won't stay on the track, my power antenna motor died, half my speakers stopped working, and the wipers only work when they feel like it. Yet when I bought the car, everything was fine. It makes me wanna sell it and get something more reliable like an srt-4, wrx, or even a honda LOL.

Sorry I just had to blow some steam.

Ok, let's see. You have just purchaced a 13 year old vehicle expecting it to be like a brand new one? Take one problem at a time, repair it and when you get the bugs worked out I think you will be pleased. 3 alternators? Are you using used alternators? I would take one to a good alternator rebuilder and have him work his magic on it. I don't care much for rebuilds off the shelf as they are mass produced. Get a custom repair. Clutches like brakes will eventually give it up. They are a wear item. If you or the previous owner does not know how to properly engage a clutch from take off and slips it constantly you can have this problem. Some people are worse than others. Brakes can be worn out fast if you drive with one foot on gas and one on brake. I find that driving habits play a very important part in how long things last. Wipers? Well like I said it's 13 years old.

Do the maintainance that was probably overlooked. Be the good steward.

Good Luck

Thanks for the replies guys.

Lol yea I was expecting there to be some things to fix when I bought the car. My '86 fiero didn't have anywhere near as many problems as the DSM, go figure. About the alternators, the first one overcharged the battery and caused it to spew acid everywhere the same day I got it. So i called the guy I bought it from just to tell him what happened and he sent me a used one he had sitting around. That one lasted a month, and now I am on a rebuilt Bosch with a warranty.

A girl owned the car previously also, so maybe thats why the clutch is going out now. LOL, jk. When I bought the car, she had left a timeslip in it from when she raced it. She ran something like a 15.4 @ 89 with a 2.3 60'. And then i raced with no other mods to it, and ran a 13.8 @ 96 with a 1.85 60'. So im thinkin she wasnt the best of drivers.
