I am getting a noise from the rear that changes frequency with speed, sort of a Whaahhh,Whaahhh,Whaahhh sound. For all the world like a UFO in an old bad movie. I am thinking tires...any suggestions?? Thanks!

Hopefully the rear diff isn't going. That will make more of a humming sound though.

Later,

Checked tire pressure. The same to within one pound all around. 38 PSI to be exact. The tires are General Radials on stock 97 GS alloys. I noticed the other day that with my golf clubs in the back, they were vibrating. The vibration dosen't carry noticibly to the front though...very slight almost inperceptable shimmy in the steering wheel. Took it on a 100 mile trip over the weekend, no problems... Any thoughts?

Not when I brake, all the time. The current solution is to turn up the stereo! Seroiusly, droneing noise from about 10 mph to as fast as I've gone. Louder, quicker frequency with increase in speed, but the tone stays nearly the same. I am starting to wonder if one of my wheels is "out of true" read bent. Just got the car two weeks ago, love it except for that. Driving me nuts. The dealer is supposed to fix it, but they are suddenly hard to get ahold of now...Hmmmm go figure. Being that I bought his and hers G2's '97/'98 from the same dealer, the same day, you'd expect better service!! As always, suggestions, observations welcome!!

Awdboost said: does it happen only when you brake??? I get that and I can't figure out how to fix it.. I have like 1K on new power slots and semi metallic pads.

I'd check the new rotors for alignment and trueness. Is there any pulsing when u brake? I had noise and puse from a warped rotor once, drove me nuts! I was poor at the time and just lived with it :( I'd have em checked, your pads will go quick if a rotor is bent....
