I have a buddy trying to install a 1G FWD tranny in his 2G Eclipse.

From what I understand, he only needs to use 4 bolts to bolt it to the block. But what about the mounts? Is the bellhousing different where the tranny mounts bolts to it? Does he have to use a 1G or a 2G tranny mount?

Is this going to work or are we wasting our time?

Your wasting your time, It wont work. 2g mounts are on the transmission. 1gs do not have provisions for them. If he needs to get it back on the road cheap graba 93-96 galant 2.4 5 speed. It shoudl work. Not quite as strong though. but it has the correct mount and *should* accept a turbo size flywheel.
