im lookin at this 1g gsx....when i shift into third above 4500 rpms it grinds....only in that gear??? and only above or around that rpms.....plz help

could it need a tranny rebuild or a syncro? help asap plz...ne ideas will be helpfull

I would first try changing the transmission fluid with pensoil sycomesh fluid you can buy at auto zone. The fiction modifiires in the oil wear out causing this problem, but usually in second like myself and many others on here . Also try keeping the clutch in a little longer before shifting into that gear to make sure it goes in. Stock dsm tranys suck unless you have shepard build you a nice one.
I just changed my old BG syncromesh with 12k on it and it was all thick and came out silver
(aluminum I think). Not good. I was haveing a hard time getting it into second above 7k racing someone and loosing of corse :notgood:
I changed the fluid with the pensoil, and I also adusted my clutch rod out a little bit so the cluch would disengauge sooner. This helped out alot.
