Sometimes I think "Do I want to keep pouring money into my hot 2G DSM?" :talon:

I'm having the same problem with the car not starting because when I push down on the cluch it's not making the necessary electrical connection to allow the motor to turn over.

The first time this happened I took it to a dealership $300.00 and 3 months later the same problem was back. This time I got under the dash, tried to isolate the correct connection. I pushed, pulled and tugged. I must have hit the right connection because the car started.

Today 4 months later the problem is back.

My going under the dash and doing the same thing I did 4 months ago has not worked.
I know the problem is the electrical connection is not being made when I depress the clutch.
Can any one guide me to the exact connection I should be looking for?
HELP!!

Are you sure the plugs for the neutral safety switch is making connection. On my freind 1g we just had a problem like this, it was literally the plastic peice in the hole on the clutch pedal that hits the switched cracked and came out, check to make sure thats pressing the switch in.

The easy way to test the switch on the clutch pedal is to unplug it. With it unplugged, the car should start fine without you having to press the clutch pedal at all. Just remember to make sure it is not in gear! Been there, done that. I also have the same problem once in a while. I just keep turning the key over and over again and eventually it works. That makes me believe that in my case at least, it is a wire n the ignition somewhere, which I am not too eager to debug, but I will one of these days. In the mean time I was thinking of installing a push-button starter. Has anyone here done that?

Thank you for the feedback Chad and Dale.
I managed to get the car started yesterday. Today it's not starting, same old clutch problem. (I think) As you guys may have seen one of our members put a film on this web site showing what to disconnect so the car can start without pushing the clutch in.
However, when I go under my dash there is about 3 different connections that look like the one disconnected in the movie.
The one connection I can definitely trace to the clutch is a "actuator" when you depress the clutch it presses a button down. The electrical connection in my 2g Talon that is part of this actuator does not look a thing like the one in the movie.
The bottom line is I'm not 100% sure which connection to undo. Any idea out there?

I disconnected the switch on the clutch pedal. Still won't start, lights work battery is fine.
Did you ever get a chance to track your prolbem beyond the clutch switch?
If you did what results did you get? Boy am I in a fix.

Yank the connection on that interlock switch and leave it off. Learn to start the car in neutral, which means developing the habit of shaking the gearshift to make sure before you turn the key.
If pulling the conncector doesn't end the problem, then you may have a bad starter, bad wiring to the starter, or a worn-out ignition switch.
