Yesterday, I tried to pull my clutch pedal assembly. Everything went smoothly except for "Pull the assembly down ... and turn it counter clockwise..." I can't even pull the assembly down because a TAB/BRACKET that's there to hold in a couple of wiring harnesses. I tried to hammer the tab up to slip it past, but I could only get it half through.

I wish I had a picture to show you, but I have no camera. Can you please offer me some advice here, if you have any. Did you stop on that bracket, and THEN turn counter-clockwise?

I think I can illustrate somewhat..

On this page, the second picture (diagram) is what I am referring to. Where it says "Brake Light Switch," it points to part of the assembly that I am talking about. When I try to drag the assembly down - this part hits a wiring harness bracket right below the steering wheel. (Or at least where it would be if I didn't drop the steering wheel column.

Please help

If it your brake light switch then it will have a little clip or button type deal( maybe a pin) thats holds two plastic peices together. Pull (most likely white, not to familiar with 1g) half out and the other half stays with the assembly.

I also had trouble with a metal tab that was in the way when I removed my clutch pedal assembly... don't know if it's the same!? But nevertheless, it was such a frustrating job for me that I just cut the damn tab with a pair of metal cutters to make room! :D

There was some kind of a fuses support bolted to it so now, it is held in place with tie-wraps! Nobody is looking down there anyway so...

Yeah, I just somehow did it tonight. The metal tab is mangled, but it should still work. Or zip ties.

Did you have trouble getting your brake master cylinder/booster to go all the way back in?

Do channel locks work the best for adjusting the clutch master cylinder?

This is one of the worst DSM projects ever, but I say that for most or 'em. ;)

Yes, getting the master cylinder back in can be a pita! But once you line up one of the holes with its stud and manage to bolt down one nut, everything will get in place.

For adjusting the master cylinder rod lenght, I only use my fingers and a 12mm wrench (iirc). The rod shouldn't be hard to turn by hand.

I need a vice grips to turn the clutch master cylinder rod - it is a new master cylinder too.

I have everything bolted up now except where the brake master cylinder and booster bolt to the firewall. I am REALLY scared because I tested the clutch pedal and it is a lot better but I can now press it a couple time, and then pull it up almost a half inch - like something is bound in the assembly. Also, I forgot to grease the cleavis pin that goes in the pedal arm so I am going to take that apart a little bit tomorrow.

We'll see. I know it will be better, but I want perfect.
