I am in the middle of removing my transmission and right now I have it supported by a jack stand. I basically have it diconnected from the engine. I am trying to move the tranny toward the passenger side so I can drop it. I have only moved it alittle and it seems stuck. Is there a trick or something else I should in order to drop it? It doesnt want to budge.
I notice that my flywhel was alittle scratched up. I romoved he rubber boot on the the clutch fork and to my eyes saw that my tob had gotten tore up. I was able to romove part of my retaining clip, through the clutch fork hole. Also I noticed that a part of my tob went through my bellhousing, so I have a quater size hole.
Will the oem tob work for my setup, 2600 act, aasco fly, act street disc. or should I get the act tob.

is there a reason for me to use the oem bearing over the act?

depends....lately ACT has been using a plastic sleeved bearing like the oem one, but if you bought the clutch a long time ago you might have gotten the metal sleeved one.

The metal sleeved bearing can wear down over time and put stress/grooves on the shaft in the tranny.

I got the clutch about two years ago, so it was metal. I wish I could show you the scratches and gouges it did to my pressure plate and flywheel, luckily it was all on the outside of the covers and not the surface plates. Everything looked good. Its going to take sometime to clean everything really well from metal shavings though. I'm going to get the OEM tob.
I did end up breaking the retaining clips, is there any place that I can get those?

If you guys are experiencing any tpe of tob problem jump on it, because I didnt know what it was and still drove the car for six months, luckily I dont have to get a new fly, plate and disc.

you can get the retaining clip from the dealer...im not sure if local parts stores would carry them. It's only about $1.

Before you put the new bearing on take some sand paper and sand the input shaft on the tranny to smoothen out any pits or bumps...also, put some grease on the shaft and the inside of the bearing and check to make sure the bearing slides smoothly without getting snagged on any rough spots.

thanks, I will let you know how everything went in a acouple of days.

i've always used the oem bearing....*sigh*, but thats what I was tought when I got into dsm's 4 years ago. :thumb:
something about how it get worn differntly or what not..but if ya want to take your chances, good luck. :thumb:

I was never told about the tob issue. When it got installed it was with the tob that came with the act kit, and back then it was metal.
