A friend of mine had troubles with the manual trans on his 92 Tsi Awd. So we swapped it for another one. The stock clutch disc was shot, so we replaced it with a new 6-puck disc that I had the intention of putting in my own car. We kept the stock pressure plate. After the job was done, everything was fine except that my friend had a little problem getting used to the harsh engagement of the 6-puck. :D

Then one week later, he comes back to my appartment with this:

(I don't know how to post pics)

How is that possible? Those discs are used on really powerful dsm's but failed on a stockish (air filter, exhaust, 14b at 17psi) Talon!

And that didn't happen on a launch! He was cruising in fourth, shifted to fifth then... no more clutch!

i would call the vendor you got it from and say you got a defective clutch. they might not want to warrenty it because it was not used with an act pressure plate, i doubt it but that could be the problem.

also why the 6 puck and not replace the pressure plate, thats a waste of and expensive disc. also did you bother to machine the flywheel?

I bought it from someone on Ebay two months ago but it was still in the original packaging. So I doubt that I could get a refund.

Yes, we should have machined the flywheel but it was saturday night and didn't want to wait till Monday morning! :D We threw the 6-puck in there 'cause that's the only disc I had laying around. Since then, my friend bought an oem clutch disc (same pressure plate and flywheel) and everything is fine now.

Maybe the 6-puck wasn't meant to be used with a stock pp but I doubt it since a few dsmers are running the exact same combo!
