i have a 97 gst...stock. car is hard to shift and grinds into reverse a lot. i did the skate bearing trick, new slave cylinder and a shifter bushing kit. They all helped a little but didnt fix the problem. I changed the tranny fluid (synthetic weight that is recommended in the owners manual) there wasnt any metal in the old fluid so i doubt the tranny is going. the only other thing i cant think of is the clutch... and it seems the longer i drive it (or the harder) the harder it is to shift, kind of seems like the pressure plate right? Or is there anything else it could be?

Also are there any opinions on the clutch from auto zone with the lifetime warranty.

THANKS!

well beings which reverse has no syncro i wouldn't blame it on a syncro, try to adjust the master cylinder rod. where does your clutch engage according to the floorboard.

as for the autozone clutch, i wouldn't recomend it but i have a crush on act's :coy:
the only clutch i usually recomend is the act 2600 with the street disc. if your are going to do it, put in something worthwhile and don't kick yourself in the ass. (kinda like i am with my 16g)

how do you adust the master cylinder rod??? Do you mean the slave cylinder rod? That might help considering the clutch peday has to be on the floor...all of the way on the floor for it to disengage. thanks

If you look at your clutch pedal, towards the top of it you will see a a rod. turn it clockwise to raise the engagement point, counter clockwise to lower it.

You also should have changed your master when you changed your slave. If you're low on funds I believe rebild kits are available for like $12.

sorry to bring this back, but what fixed the problem??
im having a similiar issue as well.
also, when the car is off, it shifts fine.
you turn the car on, and it sometimes dont wanna go in gear. i dont think my master cylinder is adjusted right either.
