well its broke. dumped it at 4000rpm just playin around and as soon as i did bamm. WTF no forward or revers.I'm thinkin cv joint went out but id like to know what you guys think.

i'm not good with tell weather ur car is FWD or AWD...if it's FWD get under the car and have someone start it and put it in first...it u see ur cv spinning then ur got a busted cv...if nothing is spinning then it's ur tranny

You can pretty much rule out the CV theory... You would have to snap EVERY CV on your car to make it not move at all. Even only one working CV shaff with 3 broken ones will move the car... not far, or gracefully, but it will move the car in some way shape or form. Id have to say its either your clutch or tranny.... Start to take it appart and find out!

 I had a car that had a bad CV joint and my car wouldn't move. I could occasionally get it to pull itself for about 2 feet. Speedometer would move though! Replaced the shaft and I was on the road again. Could be a CV Joint, but with that many miles on the tranny and that kind of abuse, be prepared for the worst.

I never said it would drive, just move the car. And you are contradicting yourself here... It wouldnt move, then it did? Which one is it?

Awd WILL move, fwd will NOT.

Hmm... well i guess the two FWD cars that i have seen snap an axle must be an exception to the case? Maybe they both had a LSD up front. I can see what your saying though, if the car doesnt have LSD up front and the diff is open, then no, it will not move.

No, i'm not contradicting myself. Shifting into 1st, maybe one out of every 50 attempts, the car would pull itself about 2 feet, then just not move no more. So basically, the car was stuck in the same spot until I got the new halfshaft in.

Sounds like a center diff to me.

If it's the car listed in the profile, then it's FWD. Lasers got AWD in 92

Took the words out of my mouth. If you don't have first or reverse, but all of the others then it could very well be a tranny issue.

well its a fwd and the shaft broke right at the wheel right at were its splinned to go into the hub.im goin out of town wont be back till sunday ill have pics on here sunday night around 7 or 8 pm eastern time.im off to the beach for my sisters wedding.

Only locked/spooled FWD cars should move.
